That Time I Was A Weight Loss Coach

My family thought I went crazy

Hey friends,

If you've been following me on Youtube for a while, you might know that prior to making videos about personal finance, I used to be a weight loss coach.

LOL.

I know, but guess what?

It was something that it was relatable to my life journey, something that I was passionate about helping people in at the time.

It also allowed me to go deep in learning about digital marketing and funnels.

My family thought I went crazy when they found out. (lol again)

Love them, but they are very traditional Asian immigrants that believe there is only 1 path to success in life (university -> professional job -> big company -> bragging rights)

In 1 year, I was making as much money helping people lose weight than I did as a corporate controller for a growing tech company.

It also allowed me to quit my job.

(This is why you don't take advice from people who don't have what you want).

Anyways, that's not the point I'm trying to make.

What I reflect on daily is what I learned from this extremely valuable experience.

The power of content.

How to connect with an audience through authentic storytelling and emotion.

What marketing funnels are.

How to build a personal brand that captivates and attracts.

How to deliver a concise and valuable message in front of camera.

It sounds easier than it is.

What people see as a Youtube video, is me talking into a Sony camera in my office, with multiple bright lights in my face, and my hubby directing me like a filmmaker.

The takeaway?

Making money starts with you using what you already have and know in life.

Utilizing your skills, your knowledge, and your background.

You try, make mistakes, get better - repeat 100x

Taking messy imperfect action >>> Waiting for circumstances to be perfect

My content is what it is today, only because I was willing to try everything and anything back then.

Nobody wakes up as a pro.

This is what Malcolm Gladwell refers to as the 10,000 hour rule.

Until next time,

Alice
