What Financial Freedom Is Not

I've been privileged to meet and work for many high net worth individuals.

As an accountant, I've been privileged to meet and work for many high net worth individuals.

People who have 7 and 8 figures worth in assets and net worth.

I would say that those experiences shaped my world and money language more than anything else in my life.

Prior to this, I had always been told that university was the golden ticket to life.

I'm sure you have too.

Getting a degree from a big fancy university, working at a big firm and company, getting benefits and a big compensation package, was what was going to make rich.

Imagine my dismay when I started working full-time to find out what wealth really is. I found out that it was ALL made in business.

Restaurants.

Movie production.

Hotels.

Real estate.

Private equity.

Yes, it is true that if you become a law firm partner or an accounting firm partner, you can do quite well too. But you know what law firm and accounting partners actually are? They are business owners, not academics.

There are many "gurus" giving advice online teaching people how to be “rich”.

I always find it strange when they teach nothing about business, sales, or marketing.

Yes, investing works, but 10k invested is still 10k invested.

I'm not dismissing financial influencers, bitcoin, or penny stocks…

But 10k invested in the market will be 13k in two years. Which may be 15k in four years if you're lucky.

Or it can become 0, if you’re unlucky. Lol.

The real incremental gains to net worth come from an increase in net income.

Mathematically speaking, that is the only way.

Because the math actually compounds.

If you 5x your net income, you can actually 7-10x your net worth.

Much better than investing 10k into the market and then crossing your fingers and toes.

Yours truly,
Alice
